Decathlon Blogger Community

Don’t you just love the word community? It feels all inclusive, doesn’t it?

A group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

– Oxford English Dictionary

In this instance, it’s a group of people having a particular characteristic in common – which is a love for being physically active and sharing it with others, even if occasionally we might embarrass ourselves doing it (ok, that might just be me) and that’s the ethos and plan of Decathlon (to share physical activity with others, not embarrass ourselves – that’s purely a personal choice, or can’t be helped in my case).

Question Time with Alex Crockford

Super lucky recently to have been able to interview one of my fitness heroes Alex Crockford, creator of Crockfit! I was super excited, but don’t tell him that! I have followed Alex’s homefit plans, which have been amazing, and I wholeheartedly recommend them – great support and advice, and a really lovely community too.

So on 23rd March I met up with Alex in Hyde Park, so watch now to find out;

Janathon 2017 – Week 1 Round Up

So it’s that time again – Janathon time! This year I am giving it my all! Working out every day (some days more gently as it’s important to let the body recover too!) – and I am also aiming to get in 10,000 steps every day as well (though will be satisfied if I manage 5 out of 7 days for this!)

So what have I been up to for the first seven days, well if you follow me on Instagram you probably already have an idea, but here are a few more details!

Day 1 – New Years Day
Double parkrun (Greenwich – Avery Hill Park and Bexley – Danson Park) with my lovely friend Helen of helsbels.org – we started 2016 off in the same way, and I think it’s a great way to start the year!

Juneathon 2016 – Week 4

Cannot believe that was the final week! The month of June has completely flown past – Hello July, oh and look more rain – it’s beyond crazy how quickly this year is going!

Day 22
Another amazing Fitness Blender workout, a core and kickboxing based session! Have some serious DOMS today!!! Lifting my arms aches!!!

Day 23
Had intended to go for a run but the rain was torrential so did a 27-minute fitness blender workout instead

And a good cool down

Then in the evening it was my beloved Boxercise! Certainly felt that in my thighs the next day! There was getting down to a lying position and then back up to standing without using our hands – this hurt.  So I got my kids to do the same, wow they made it look so easy, they’re closer to the ground – that’s my defence and I am sticking to it!!! Haha!!!

Juneathon 2016 – Week 3

Bit late posting this, sorry about that, had a manic day just running around doing errands! Can’t believe the third week is complete! It’s crazy how fast June is going by!

Day 15
Three Fitness Blender workouts to make one complete workout!

https://www.fitnessblender.com/videos/fun-10-minute-abs-and-obliques-workout-quick-10-minute-abs-workout-for-a-toned-stomach – Has the word ‘fun’ in the name of the workout, not quite sure that’s how I’d describe it personally, but it was very good!

Add in an additional core workout before the cool down – 20 second plank, 20 second right plank, 3 backward push ups, 20 second left plank and 3 sit ups. I watch a program with my kids called Operation Ouch – which proved you can take more pain if you distract yourself, so I tried this when doing my planks and guess what – it worked! I closed my eyes and imagined I was on a beautiful beach – actually ended up with one of my side planks being 28 seconds!!!
I’ve also completed 3 hours of house work!!! Whew!!! 😛 xxxRead More »
