I was very lucky two weeks ago to go to Champneys Spa in Tring, courtesy of Champneys and Vitality – and it came at just the right time, the Saturday after I completed my Level 3 Personal Training course!
Now the reason for this wonderful treat is actually because I’m very excitingly going to be working with Vitality on their #WomenInSport Campaign, and it was at this event I got to meet some of the other lovely female bloggers who are also getting involved! I met Georgina, Terri, Sophie, Katrina, Laura and Charlotte – the other ladies taking part who couldn’t be there on the day are Lucy and Tess – please check out all their journeys too!

In this instance, it’s a group of people having a particular characteristic in common – which is a love for being physically active and sharing it with others, even if occasionally we might embarrass ourselves doing it (ok, that might just be me) and that’s the ethos and plan of Decathlon (to share physical activity with others, not embarrass ourselves – that’s purely a personal choice, or can’t be helped in my case).

We’ve all hit the metaphorical wall now and then when working out. Sometimes we can push on through, other times we need a day or two of recovery and then we’re back firing on all cylinders.

This did start as an Instagram comment, but I realised it was a bit epic, and I feel it’s an important message, so thought why not get it out there as a blog post, as I’ve not written one for a while!
Recently, I’ve been feeling amongst the whole fitness and health universe there’s a lot of ‘if you don’t do it our way‘ you’re doing it wrong or ‘if you don’t do it like this‘ then you’re wrong – instead of congratulating and encouraging those who wish to change their lifestyle to a healthier more active one and sharing that there ISN’T just ONE specific way to do it!
That it will take time and your best bet is to do things gradually. You’ll be more likely to maintain the healthier lifestyle and you’re less likely to fall off the wagon if your changes are manageable. For instance, when I started to change how I was eating I didn’t try and change everything at once, I initially started with breakfast and slowly incorporated making my other meals healthier over a period of time.
I thought it would be good to share with you a little bit about as to why I am Braving the Shave…
Last year my close friend was dying and did die of cancer, our close family friend is also currently battling cancer, a family member is battling cancer again, numerous family members have battled cancer, we’ve lost people to cancer and every single day more people are diagnosed with this horrendous disease – IT’S JUST SHIT – it does not discriminate and there but for the grace of God go I, this has affected me a lot and I got into my head I wanted to use this anxiety productively and try and raise some money for charity.
Super lucky recently to have been able to interview one of my fitness heroes Alex Crockford, creator of Crockfit! I was super excited, but don’t tell him that! I have followed Alex’s homefit plans, which have been amazing, and I wholeheartedly recommend them – great support and advice, and a really lovely community too.
So on 23rd March I met up with Alex in Hyde Park, so watch now to find out;
I was invited along to do a Scavenger Hunt by Decathlon at their Surrey Quays store – and of course, I jumped at the chance, who wouldn’t want to do a treasure hunt? (I am just a big kid really!)
I travelled there with the lovely Helen on a very pleasant evening, where we were greeted by Bella at the Decathlon offices and got to briefly chat and mingle with the other bloggers before being sorted into our teams. I made up a third of the green team with the lovely Sabine and delightful Bethan.
Recently I have been really trying to increase the amount of protein in my diet, reading up on protein powders (I’ll admit I find it all rather confusing) and protein bars as I really want to gain muscle and definition with my workouts, so when Oomi offered me the chance to try their protein-packed noodles I jumped at the chance, especially as they are also gluten free! I’d much rather obtain my protein through my meals than using protein powder – but this is just a personal preference and doesn’t mean I won’t use protein powder in the future – but I digress.
I have to say I was a little apprehensive though when I realised the source of the protein is from white fish. I don’t know why, as I really like white fish – I suppose it just seemed unusual to me, the idea of noodles made with fish protein, I don’t know if I expected them to feel squishy like fish or to smell like fish!?
