So delayed in publishing this! Almost the end of the final week of Janathon! Oh well, here’s my week three synopsis!
Day 15
Really enjoying all the Alex Crockford workouts – they’re hard but a great start to the day – this is just a small snippet!

Day 15
Really enjoying all the Alex Crockford workouts – they’re hard but a great start to the day – this is just a small snippet!
So it’s that time again – Janathon time! This year I am giving it my all! Working out every day (some days more gently as it’s important to let the body recover too!) – and I am also aiming to get in 10,000 steps every day as well (though will be satisfied if I manage 5 out of 7 days for this!)
So what have I been up to for the first seven days, well if you follow me on Instagram you probably already have an idea, but here are a few more details!
Day 1 – New Years Day
Double parkrun (Greenwich – Avery Hill Park and Bexley – Danson Park) with my lovely friend Helen of helsbels.org – we started 2016 off in the same way, and I think it’s a great way to start the year!

Wow – half way already!?! Where is the time going?
So what exercise have I been up to this week?
Day 8
Day 3 of the Fitness Blender 5 day Strong and Lean challenge plus some additional weight work for my arms using my 1.5kg weights (20 bicep curls, 20 upright rows, 20 tricep kickbacks, 20 overhead shoulder presses and 15 bent over reverse fly) repeated 3 times!
Feeling so rough this morning I had to cancel the swimming session I’d organised with my friend. Felt so disappointed, as if I was letting myself down, though I knew it would be silly to go and I would have ended up putting my confidence back, so it was a sensible decision but just wish I’d felt well enough to go.
I even got the hubby to do the school and nursery drop off this morning, so my minimal exercise today was walking to collect the Blue One from nursery and then another walk to collect the Pink One from school!
I also did the Lemsip Lift!!! A kettle full of water is heavy (didn’t waste water, as doing the kids pasta at the same time)
1. Filled and put the kettle on
2. Get sachet of Lemsip
3. Open sachet and pour contents into mug
4. Lemsip powder in the mug
5. Add boiled water
6. Stir
7. Add cold water and get ready to drink
8. Down it as quickly as possible
There was a 9th image of the compulsory grimace but no one needed to see that ‘delightful’ image of me!
Really hoping I feel better tomorrow as I want to go to my Boxercise class – but we’ll have to see what the day brings! 🙂 xxx
Well I had planned to do some weights today but I woke up with a pinched nerve in my shoulder which is rather painful and making my whole right arm ache! I am blaming it on the day of study I did the day before and all the hand writing (and nothing to do with the exercising I’ve been doing).
So instead I went for a walk , as it was a really beautiful morning – managing over 7000+ steps by 9:30am – so with my busy day of the Blue Ones football and then the Pink and Blue Ones swimming lessons I managed to go over 10,000+ steps today!
What do you like to do on a rest day 🙂 xxx
Today was a very easy day, but I think that’s fairly reasonable considering yesterday’s exertions!
There was walking to and from the school for the various drop offs and pick ups.
I did the Morrisons big shop with the Blue One, and he sat in the trolley, so it was quite heavy to push to start with, even more so once the shopping was in there. Lifting the packed bags into the trolley, then into the boot and then taking them in once home! One bag contained 2 x 6 pint milks, 1 x 4 pint milk and a litre of soya milk – I think that was some good heavy lifting!
Finally, I did 30 seconds of jumping jacks with the small people for extra merit!
All being well, I hope to attend Parkrun tomorrow, which is probably a good thing as today ended with a Chinese takeaway, yum yum!!! xxx
So today started rather earlier as I needed to have bloods taken and it was a fasting one – so got to the hospital nice and early, and was back in time to walk the small people to school and nursery.
Starving by the time I got home, after fasting for 18 hours – hubby had got my cereal and cup ready for when I got back.
Then down to some studying – before heading back out to collect the Blue One from nursery, lots of brisk walking as it was chilly out there!
Two little friends over to play for the Boy and a chat for me with their lovely mummy, then more walking to collect the Pink One, and this was the long way round as she had gymnastics tonight! Love that my kids love being active, I hope that it lasts! The sky looked lovely – so took some piccies!
Once home, got the kids fed, and I got ready for this week’s Boxercise class but then I needed to wait for the hubby to get home – normally it’s my study day and I am usually child free so I can get out easily, but had to do a switch this week. So typically Southeastern were running S…L…O…W… so the poor hubby got in about 10 mins before my class started, so I literally flew out the door.
Got to my Boxercise class and it was straight into the warm up – there was lots of squats.
Into the gloves and pads, intensive 20 seconds of jabs, then 10 seconds of the person in the pads doing squat jumps while the one in gloves recovered – repeated eight times. Swapping with you partner and repeat. Feel the burn – and the minor punch to my face because my partner and I were chatting a little too much! Haha! Oops!
Then there was the boxer’s stance running backwards, swap legs, then jumping the line and repeat. There was jumping the line and squatting – repeated three times.
Then there was sprinting.
Finally, the cool down… phew… lots of lovely stretching! A good session for Janathon Day 14! 🙂 xxx
Today was a walk, but quite a brisk and efficient walk and I’ve managed to cause a blister on the back of my right foot – hence the ouch!
I had an appointment at the hospital so used that as my goal for walking – pretty much the same route as my run yesterday, but just a smidge further! Weather had been quite rainy this morning so prepared myself for all weathers!
Walk there and home – completing 8km!
My hubby was still off work this week so I’ve utilised him being here to get quite a few kilometres in – next week might not be so active, but it may see the reintroduction of the Wii!
I think I’ve exhausted myself this week – feel completely drained this evening and rather achy! All this exercise can’t be good for me! haha!
Tomorrow will be a change from running or walking, all being well! 😊xxx
So my hubby kindly let me have a lie in this morning, after feeling decidedly ropey the day before, the small people don’t start back at school and nursery until tomorrow and he’s taken some holiday so doesn’t have to go back to work until next week!
When I got up (and had eaten breakfast), I got on with some Open University study, as I have thoroughly neglected it over Christmas and the New Year, with the intention of going for a walk later, due to the fact that thankfully I was feeling better than yesterday but still rather tired and didn’t want to over do it. Typically whilst I was studying the skies were blue and the weather was dry, as the morning became afternoon I could hear the tell-tell sounds of raindrops on our conservatory roof! Such joy, this made me feel rather less enthusiastic about venturing out (venting my frustrations on Facebook).
Eventually I got ready to go, finally getting out of my PJs and into some clothes – and I dressed appropriately for the possible weather, which for the time being had stopped raining, but I took my umbrella and wore my waterproof jacket to ensure I was prepared for the weather to turn again. I also wore my Buff, which kept my ears lovely and warm!
I needed to take my watch to the menders for a new battery, so used that as my reason to get out – I hate being without my watch, and the battery in my spare had also stopped. So I took a the normal route to the repair shop and then took a longer route home. A very pleasant walk as the weather was kind to me and it didn’t rain, though I did have to avoid a few puddles here and there – in total I covered 5.55km! Not a bad effort in the end after all my procrastination!
What to do for Janathon tomorrow? 🙂 xxx
So today was mainly about the walking for exercise! My hubby and I were lucky enough to have a childfree day (courtesy of the kids having a sleep over at Nanny & Grandad’s) so we had a day roaming around London – even though it drizzled with rain all day it was just lovely to be out together!
We covered about 11km – walking from Blackfriars to the Strand, to Covent Garden (perused the market),called into Forbidden Planet (I really want to start collecting Pop Heads) and then on to Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street – a visit to Primark (this included walking down four flights of stairs) – amazing how we came out with more bits for the kids then ourselves… Though I did see these fab t-shirts – I want the Little Miss Social Media one but they didn’t have my size! 😔
Then a stop in a Starbucks for a drink and then started wending our way back to Blackfriars – with a quick pit stop as I could see from my phone that my sister and one of my brothers were near by!
Then walked back to the station – saw our train was departing in 3 minutes – so a quick run up the stairs!!! I think a pretty successful Janathon day 2!
My hubby and I are going to relish a couple more hours of peace and quiet – we may head up to bed early and…sleep!!!! We’re off to an early showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens tomorrow before getting the kids back!
