So this morning I thought for my Janathon Day 20 I’d go for a run in the evening when my husband got in from work but as the day wore on and it got darker and colder and I got more tired my conviction to go diminished to the point where when my husband did get in from work I pretty much wasn’t going and thought I’ll just do some activity on the Wii!
My hubby kindly just said “Go for a run!” – which is the best thing he could’ve done because I did! It wasn’t long but it was nice and refreshing! I’m glad I went! It feels good!
So after the amazing experience of running my first 10km today feels a bit of an anti-climax, so to improve my mood I will share with you that I have entered the Bupa London 10,000 and I am doing this in support of the charity Mind – a charity that has helped me and who is close to my heart. 1 in 4 of us are affected by mental health problems in our life times – with charities like Mind they can help people get through these tough times, improve people’s quality of life and make mental health less of a taboo and I would be most grateful if sometime between now and May you could sponsor me – with much thanks in advance!
Now moving back to Janathon Day 19 – well my contributions today are the walk I took to take my daughter to school and again this afternoon when I collected her – which was 1.3km each time – so a total of 2.6km all with a near 3 year old in tow, so I am sure this increases the exercise content of this mundane walk!? ;-P
I also did 10 mins of vacuuming which included the stairs!!!
So a more gentle day today – but good for loosening up the muscles in my legs after yesterday, which currently don’t feel too bad, long may this last!
My exercise of choice this morning was vacuuming – which included the more strenuous section of doing the stairs! Got quite warm – though this may have also been due to choice of chunky jumper I was wearing!
I even found a site where you can calculate the approximate about of calories you burn doing various exercises and you can even look up household activities including vacuuming!
Though personally I’m not really into calorie calculating – I want to do exercise to become fit (and it would be nice to be toned) and not for weight loss purposes as I am already borderline underweight! I attribute this to IBS and a whole host of food intolerances – I’m going on a dietician led elimination diet in February and I can’t wait as it’s getting so frustrating, it’s horrible to be frightened of food and you can’t complain about being underweight!!! Which I can assure you is rather stressful. This week though I’ve limited my wheat/gluten and dairy intake and increased my water intake to see if that helps as I really don’t want to suffer runners tum on my 10km run on Sunday!!!
Found this site which I feel actually provided some great advice on how to deal with the annoying side affect of running and why it happens! Very useful – worth a look On runnersworld.com
Obviously Runner’s Tum might not be something you want to mention you suffer with – but if you do please share what you do to try and prevent it happening or what has worked for you! I’d appreciate it and I’m sure others would too!!!
Though I suffer with anxiety as well and that doesn’t help either – as you can see from the site that in itself can be a trigger!!! Haha!!! I sound a bundle of fun don’t I!?!
Sorry – went off on a tangent there!
I also managed a bit of time on Wii Fit Plus – definitely made it a bit more interesting to try and do with the Blue One up and around, my own mini personal trainer except he kept requesting rather loudly that he wanted to do bowling and kept generally getting under my feet! He was good really, just happier once he was having his game of bowling!

Finally I went on a very pleasant walk with my mum, dad and the Blue One! We did about 2.16km/1.3 miles in half an hour – not bad with a not quite 3 year old walking too! Such beautiful weather when we walked too, it was lovely, really lifts the spirits! So quite an active day!
Lovely Walk!

So when I woke up this morning I wasn’t feeling so great, which was annoying and I was worried it would affect my run or mean I wouldn’t make it out for a run, but thankfully as the day went on I felt better asides from the ache in my right leg courtesy of skipping!!! Ive been stretching to try and alleviate the discomfort and tightness especially in my calf and my right glut…ahem…
So I finally managed to go for a very pleasant run with my friend Kay, we chattered as we ran (I’m quite impressed I can actually run and talk at the same time – proof to me that I am improving) and we surprised ourselves by running 5.56km, and more importantly we missed the inclement weather which I can hear lashing down on the conservatory whilst I write this blog! Nice!
Kay is a lovely running companion, very encouraging and motivating – we missed having Deputy Helen with us though! It’s so good having two great friends to exercise with, they’ve kept me going for which I thank them wholeheartedly! I appreciate their support more than they know! My run did help ease the ache in my leg – here’s hoping my legs still feels good in the morning!!!
When I got in from my run – I did manage to fit in some Rhythmic Kung Fu and Rhythmic Boxing! Makes me laugh and feels good!

So today regarding my exercise for Janathon day 13 was a bit of déjà vu as it involved Skipping and doing some Wii Fit plus – the major difference was feeling the ache in my legs from yesterday’s skipping exertions! Ouch!!!
Seriously, how did I spend hours skipping as a little girl? It was tough doing 12 minutes this afternoon – I’m hoping my legs don’t feel too bad tomorrow as hoping to do a longer run in preparation for Sunday – but we’ll see how we go!
I really hope all this exercise is doing me good – haha!!!

Just short and to the point blog on day 11 of Janathon!
I’ve had an amazing day celebrating my cousin’s 30th wedding anniversary with lots of extended family – really was lovely, even though daddy had to stay home with the Blue One as his Chicken Pox are still at the contagious stage, the Pink One and I got to go but came home quite late for a night before school and so the Wii came to the rescue again and for the 11th consecutive day I’ve managed to do some exercise!!! A whole 35 minutes – mainly thanks to Super Advanced Rhythmic Boxing!!!

I’m thinking of finding my skipping rope – but my hope for Janathon day 12 is a longer run in preparation for my first timed 10km on Saturday and not trigger my Runner’s tum…
I’m also thinking of writing some non Janathon based blogs, shocking I know, whilst I have this amazing increased traffic to my blog – but need to get organised, so will see if this transpires!!!

After a rather trying night with chicken pox boy (he didn’t go to sleep until about 3am – after a lot of wailing) I wasn’t very motivated to do much exercise, so I timed my manic walk up and down Bexleyheath High Steet.
I finished an appointment I had at 11am and had 56 minutes of time left to visit all the shops I needed – The Card Factory, Boots and H&M!
I was quite surprised with the distance that I covered!
Walking up and down Bexleyheath High Street!
I also recorded the amount of distance I covered walking around the supermarket – in this case Morrisons, doing ‘the Big Shop’ – but I unfortunately forgot to stop MapMyWalk running when I finished, and so it includes my drive home! Doh!!!
It’s not call ‘The Big Shop’ for nothing!
Needs to be less 3.22km and 10 minutes off the time – so again, I covered 1.43km just doing the weekly shop, so not at a great pace, but still further than you’d think! (Well further than I was expecting)
Who knew
Then for good measure I did some exercise on the Wii! So Wii Fit Plus !

Well the plan for Janathon Day 8 was to go on a nice evening run with my lovely friends Deputy Helen and Kay – but this was thwarted by the blue one having chicken pox!
His sister had it two weeks ago and this Tuesday – exactly 14 days after the Pink One came out in the spots the Blue One did. The Pink One was rather lucky and didn’t suffer too badly, she had enough spots to know she’d had chicken pox but she wasn’t covered – the Blue One is another story entirely!
He’s being very good with it, but I was at work today and so he was with his nanny and grandad all day (who he adores) and when he came home was rather forlorn and crying, and telling me he doesn’t feel well – so I knew going out for a run was out of the window! We will attempt to try again tomorrow!
So grateful for the Wii – least I was still able to do some exercise (and on Wii Fit Plus my Wii age was 25 – rather chuffed with that)! Though since using it, parts of me are aching that I didn’t know could ache! Cuddling my hot water bottle this evening to sooth my poor body – I need to get back to running, never ached like this after a good run and my first 10km race is rapidly looming!!! Argh!!!
Want to be wearing these again…
Tonight I did the following… Wii Fit & Wii Fit Plus
Yoga
Half-moon pose
Tree pose
Muscle workout
Single leg twist
Aerobic
Super Hula Hoop
Rhythmic Boxing
Balance Games
Ski Jump
Heading (football)
Total time – 32 mins
No videos to amuse you this evening I’m afraid! I’m currently typing this in bed with my pox covered little boy next to me watching Peppa Pig – it’s 11pm, this doesn’t bode well – this is a little boy who is normally asleep by 7.30pm! Oh well – this is just one of those things you have to deal with when you have the absolute honour of being someone’s mummy!
I bid you all goodnight – hopefully mine will feature some sleep…

Well today I dusted off the Wii Balance Board, no seriously I did, the layer of dust on it was gross – but once cleaned and new batteries installed we were ready to go!
I registered on Wii Fit – height, weight, date of birth etc and then I did the Wii Fit Age test and it had me at 3 years older than my current again, which in the grand scheme of things isn’t so bad and I can live with that (for now)!!!
I forgot how much fun the Wii is and how addictive – did quite a workout this evening – totally 32 minutes – and don’t worry embarrassing evidential videos of some of the Hula Hooping are below for your viewing pleasure!!!
Janathon Day 7 contribution in no particular order…
Muscle Workout
Single leg extension – 6 reps per leg
Torso & Waist Twists – 3 reps
Lunge – 10 reps per leg
Yoga
Warrior Pose
Sun Salutation
Aerobic Exercise
Hula Hoop – 3 plays
So dignified!!!
Nearly lost my Hula Hoops
Super Hula Hoop – 2 plays (8 minutes total)
Super Hula Hoop
The Basics – 1 play
Jogging – 1 play
Balance Games
Ski Jump – 2 plays
Heading (football) – 1 play
Total Time
Found some of it quite a challenge but strangely enjoyable – got a run lined up for tomorrow but think I might be able to sneak a bit of Wii Fit in as well, don’t want that layer of dust building up again!!!

After day 5s civilised run I felt that on day 6 of Janathon I needed to get back to the indignity of filming myself doing exercise using the Wii – so boxing was the sport of choice (again)!!! My arms still ache after the fights with my sister, which can only mean that it must be good for you! Doesn’t it!?!
This time I had a few bouts against my husband. My apologies that the second video is out of focus – but I had to share it as I won!!!
Bouts three and four (which I didn’t record) showed my not very pleasant competitive self – I was getting rather grumpy when I wasn’t winning, shocking I know, especially as the youngest of four children I should be used to losing!!!
I also managed a 30 second plank – should’ve been 50 seconds but could feel discomfort in my lower back, so didn’t want to push it and do myself any damage!
Earlier in the day I also did a 1.43km walk – but having a memory like a sieve at times I completely forgot to stop the MapMyWalk app when I got home, so don’t know the true length of time it took me – so I’ll have to exclude that from my Janathon figures!!! Doh!!! 😜
Stay tuned, more Wii based exercise coming tomorrow for day 7!!! 😊xxx
