Not much really

Usually I do intervals on a Tuesday but my running buddy Helen is away this week, so I had planned a run for my Juneathon Day 9 offering, but being anxious about my little boys high temperature, gave me a grumbly tum which resulted in me not eating much yesterday evening which in turn meant I felt like I didn’t have much energy to go for a run – it’s a vicious cycle!!! But enough about what I didn’t do and on to what I did do!

Well my Blue One still had an extremely high temperature today (spiked to 39.7 during the night) so I managed to get him an afternoon doctors appointment. Today was an OU study day for me, so the Blue One was with his nanny and grandad D, so come his appointment time I walked to the doctors (with a detour into the Coop) to meet them.  Then the Blue One went back with them so mummy could do some more work! So my effort was two very short walks! Yay me!!!

I did also do nine toe touches, nine sit and reaches and nine tummy crunches/sit ups!

My Blue One now has antibiotics and following his reaction to the one dose he had this evening I have three work outs ready for me tomorrow!!! Haha!!! Wish me luck (praying some chocolate button bribery will work!!!)

Think tomorrow’s exercise level might not even be as high as today’s – shhh, don’t tell but I think I’ve got a sore throat!!! 😔not good…

Well, back to watching Transformers Rescue Bots with my awake poorly Blue One!

😊xxx

Housework it is then!

So for Juneathon Day 8 my main contribution was an hour of housework – additional effort in the fact I did the vacuuming which included the stairs!

There had been plans to do a kilometre (or possibly a mile) ‘run’ with my kiddies, but a poorly Blue One with a very high temperature (39.3 degrees celcius at its highest) who was a bit tearful (though he did eat his dinner bless him) put paid to that idea!  He kept falling asleep today, which is very unlike him, and he went in the pushchair when we collected his sister from school – which he hasn’t done in months! He had a football session this afternoon where he just sat on my lap for 45 mins – his temp hadn’t been that high when I left the house! Praying a good nights sleep will have him back to his bouncy happy self – though after Calpol, he was more himself and wanted to play… as it was time to get ready for bed!!! Obviously!!!

Left: Falling asleep on the way to football Right: Falling asleep on the way home from football! This is only a 5 minute journey!!!

This is only a 5 minute journey – and he didn’t even play, just sat on my lap for 45 minutes!!!

I’ve turned on the pedometer bit of MapMyWalk – a photo of today below – but I am not entirely convinced by the figures if I am honest!

I also did eight toe touches, eight sit and reaches and eight sit ups/tummy crunches…

Hope everyone else has had a good Juneathon Day 8!

Walking with the Pink One

A very short post tonight about my ‘exercise’ for Juneathon Day 7, need to crack on with some more OU studies, so today I did some short walks to take my daughter to a birthday party and back.  All in all, covering almost 4.5km, but adding all the time up, it over an hour – it’s quite funny comparing the speed of my walk back to collect her (average pace of 9:21mins/km) to length of time it took to walk back home again with the small Pink One in tow (average pace of 17.30mins/km) – but walking is walking and it was a beautiful day and lovely to be going along chatting and holding hands with my Pink One! I probably don’t do it often enough!

It's a beautiful day...

In between walking to and fro for my daughter, I baked some Gluten and Dairy free banana loaves, which are now in the freezer, ready for my daughter’s school fete on Saturday! I did make three – but one of them was a complete disaster for no apparent reason so didn’t make the cut!!!  This did involve a considerable amount of standing up and mixing – so must contribute to my exercise somehow!?!

I also did seven toe touches, seven sit and reaches and seven sit ups/tummy crunches!

Hope everyone else had a good Juneathon Day 7 and a lovely weekend!

Early(ish) morning run

So Juneathon Day 6 – the plan had been to do the Danson Parkrun, but woke up with a grumpy tum (blooming IBS is really getting to me now – even on this low FODMAP diet it can still be triggered! argh!!!), and really didn’t feel like doing a timed run.  So text Helen, who I was going along with and asked if she minded if we did a more local run – which thankfully she was happy with too!

So 8.30am this morning, I walked over to hers, then we walked to warm up, going back through a beautiful park (see image below) and then went on a very gentle 3km run.

It was a very pleasant run in the cool morning sunshine – the beautiful weather always helps me to feel more upbeat!

I then did a sprint for the 200m to home – always good to feel how quick I’d need to go to do 5.20min/km – don’t think I’d ever be able to keep it up for any extended period of time though!!! Haha!!!

Finally did my 6 sit and reaches and 6 sit ups/tummy crunches!

Hope everyone has a great Juneathon Day 6 and happy Saturday!

Supermarket Sweep

Not the cheesy TV game show of the 1990s but my rather feeble attempt of making my weekly big shop my ‘exercise’ activity for Juneathon day 5!

Pushing a shopping trolley around with my 3 year old Blue One sat in there, plus the weekly shop – it’s quite a work out! Plus the lifting in and out of said small child, and then the carrying in of the bags once home and putting it away – it all adds up! 😛

I also completed five toe touches, five sit and reaches and five sit ups/tummy crunches!

Run in the sun

Mad dogs and English (wo)men go out in the midday sun!!!

Well – that was me today with a run –  but juggling time with kids, a hubby and studies – sometimes you’ve just got to go for that run when you have the time, especially for Juneathon Day 4!

I’ll say now, it actually turned out to be a good run, but I will have a bit of a grumble – again my legs today were so tight and heavy and I did make sure I warmed up and stretched out before I ran, so starting find this a bit annoying.

Then whilst I ran my phone rang – it was the hubby, so answered and walked while I talked.  Helped a little to loosen my legs.  Then I came across some tree surgeons so ran passed quickly so I didn’t get hit by any bits of falling branches, but something managed to fly in my eye so had to stop to remove it from my eye and stretched my calves out again.  Thought I’d have a drink of my water – didn’t open my sports lid properly and it managed to pinch my lip – ow! Then a fly flew my eye! Pollen seemed quite high too!!!  Enough grumbling now – I then did manage to run quite well, considering it was quite hot, and made it home in one piece!!!

Walkies!

So today was quite a laid back day, but needed to do my bit for Juneathon.  So this afternoon the Pink One and I walked to collect her brother from the child-minder’s and then a walk home – not saying it was quite a slow walk home, but my Garmin kept pausing!!!

It was a slow walk - the MapMyRun is the more accurate... poor Garmin!!!

The reason for the slow walk back to home is we did look at the stream, in the beautiful sunny weather with my small people

Then the kids were lucky enough to see a neighbours campervan, and he was kind enough to let them sit in it – he made their day!

There was the walks to and from school to do drop off and pick up and don’t forget the three toes touches!!!  All in all, not a bad day!

Lead legs!

So for day two of Juneathon, I met up with the lovely Helen of helbels.org.uk for some interval runs this early evening.  We took a gentle stroll to Avery Hill Park and then had a gentle jog to warm up.  We’re running along and my legs felt so tight, completely like lead (hence the clever title of this blog post!) so we stopped for a moment to stretch out.

We then gently jogged to where we usually do out interval runs, though both admitted that we weren’t really feeling it this evening – a real lack of enthusiasm.  Though after a day of studying, it was nice just to get out as it was pleasantly warm though very windy!

We thought we would time how quickly we could run 100m and then we’ll see at the end of Juneathon, by timing ourselves again, whether we have managed to increase our speed.

So for the beginning of Juneathon 100m – 19.5 seconds (will this improve?)

Day 2

We had a slow jog back, then showed how in to Juneathon we are, we climbed a rope ladder on a climbing frame – I’m a complete wuss and with a total aversion to heights, so one rung height was enough for me!

Conquering my fear of heights (NOT!)

Then I did a speedy run home – it’s great to feel how quickly I should go to do 5:52 mins a km – if only I could keep it up for a kilometre!!!

Fast run home...

Also, don’t forget my two toe touches that I tweeted this morning!!!

Then let us begin…

So it’s the first day of June and is therefore the first day of Juneathon!!!  I have decided to participate, as I enjoyed taking part in Janathon.  Didn’t know what I was going to do today, after not feeling great during my Eltham Park 5 mile run yesterday.

I then decided I would attempt a run with my two small people, my Pink One is 5 years old and my Blue One is only 3 years old.  They’ve always wanted to go for a run with mummy – so after collecting the Pink One from school, we came home and got ready to go.  I didn’t know what I would be letting myself in for, this could’ve gone hideously wrong!

They actually did very well.  I had planned a mile, which the Pink One would’ve coped with no problem, but was probably a bit optimistic for my Blue One bless him! We did short bursts of ‘running’ and the odd walk, at one point I had to carry the Blue One but couldn’t managed that for too long!

Don’t forget I also got up this morning and touched my toes as well – which I tweeted this morning!

All in all not a bad start to Juneathon – how long will it last!?!

Happy Juneathon everyone!
