Wriggles and Giggles!

I had planned to go for a run this evening, but I would’ve been on my own and it was really cold and really dark and I quite quickly persuaded myself not to go! It might be me, but it seemed darker than normal tonight!

So instead I decided to involve the kids – literally, they were my gym equipment!

I had little people back lifts and little people air lifts – with increasing weights, starting with the Blue One and then finishing with the Pink One.

Back Lifts

Air Lifts

They thought this was hilarious and thoroughly enjoyed mummy lifting them up and down! I have to say it was one of my harder workouts – far tougher then a jog, especially as my gym equipment have minds of their owns! I think I pulled something! ;-P

Lots of fun and laughter was had so that can never be a bad thing.

Probably some Wii Fit for tomorrow – but we’ll see, only three days left to go!

😊 xxx

  1. Well done for trying. It’s quite a workout isn’t it. I’ve pulled a few things trying similar but it gets easier once you start to see how it can fit in with normal life. We forget but we’re built to be parents so it’s really the most natural form of exercise. though our lives in general don’t prepare us for it any more, that’s the real problem.

What I’ve started doing is using piggybacks for a natural squat and movement workout. You squat so they can get on and they go on your back so the load is even and better for your back.

The squat can be deep which is a challenge in itself for most of us but gives you a decent stretch. Then I just lift and move around a little. At nursery I play tag with the other kids.

Just go with common sense and what’s easy at first. always build up slowly. The point is more that you don’t have to put aside any special time for this because your kids are always there. As they get heavier you will adjust what you do and how you do it.

I’m just enjoying getting my workout as part of my normal day and giggling at the same time. It always feels easier when you’re laughing doesn’t it and it makes your kids easier to deal with too cos they just got played with.

  2. Awww thank you! You’ve done great too!
It’s good to keep in mind that playing with the kids can cover exercise too! Like the piggyback idea – I’ll just have to negotiate the arguments between my kids as who gets to go first!!!
