Janathon Day 3 – In the Buff!!!

Don’t get too excited, more precisely I’m in a Buff, but more on that in a moment!

Ok, not a massive amount of exercise today, felt really iffy with a grumpy tummy, but still managed to get up and out, with the hubby, for a 9am showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens! It was awesome! Everything I’d hoped for and so much more – highly recommend it – a good few nods to the originals (4, 5 & 6 that is – we’ll just let 1, 2 & 3 slip from our minds…).

After the film, I noticed that Bluewater now has a Buff shop, oh the excitement, I was like a kid in a sweet shop, so many beautiful ones to choose from, I really like some of the Star Wars ones, but opted for a fuschia one for my first Buff! I’m sure I’ll be buying more!

Then we went into the Speedo shop and had a look at their swimsuit sale and managed to get new ones for the kids (the Pink Ones was in the sale, the Blue Ones unfortunately wasn’t) but they’re lovely swim suits and they look so cute! 😊

Swimsuits
Ready for their swimming lesson… tomorrow!

Still feeling lacklustre with a grumpy tum, my exercise contribution today was 10 leg lifts with each of my kids (20 in total) – that was enough for me today!

Proof of exercise!!!

Hopefully for Janathon day 4 I’ll be feeling better! 🙂 xxx

Janathon Day 2 – Loving London!

So today was mainly about the walking for exercise! My hubby and I were lucky enough to have a childfree day (courtesy of the kids having a sleep over at Nanny & Grandad’s) so we had a day roaming around London – even though it drizzled with rain all day it was just lovely to be out together!

UsTwo
Yay – Childfree – can you tell he isn’t allowed out much!?!

We covered about 11km – walking from Blackfriars to the Strand, to Covent Garden (perused the market),called into Forbidden Planet (I really want to start collecting Pop Heads) and then on to Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street – a visit to Primark (this included walking down four flights of stairs) – amazing how we came out with more bits for the kids then ourselves… Though I did see these fab t-shirts – I want the Little Miss Social Media one but they didn’t have my size! 😔

T-shirts
I want these t-shirts… please!!!

Then a stop in a Starbucks for a drink and then started wending our way back to Blackfriars – with a quick pit stop as I could see from my phone that my sister and one of my brothers were near by!

Shopping and a Drink!

Then walked back to the station – saw our train was departing in 3 minutes – so a quick run up the stairs!!! I think a pretty successful Janathon day 2!

London
Lovely London at night!

My hubby and I are going to relish a couple more hours of peace and quiet – we may head up to bed early and…sleep!!!! We’re off to an early showing of Star Wars: The Force Awakens tomorrow before getting the kids back!

Now to think what to do for Janathon day 3!?! 😊xxx

Janathon Day 1 – it starts with a double!

A double Parkrun that is!

After a fairly gentle night in for our New Years celebrations (my hubby and I are hard core, comfy clothes on, sat on the sofa watching a film!), I’d agreed to go with Helen to Greenwich Parkrun followed by Bexley Parkrun. All these running ideas always seem great when you’re planning them – but then the morning dawns and you suddenly realise that you have to go through with it!!! 😛

So on the 1st January 2016 I left the house, to have to come back in to grab some bits to defrost my car! Not had to clear frost in ages…
Frozen
It was really cold, but I collected Helen, and soon it was 9am and we were in Avery Hill Park and after the briefing we were off. It was cold and slippery, I ran the first two laps with numb toes and taking it carefully on the mud, but I was happy to complete my 5km in a time of 00:34:48 – which is faster than my Parkrun on the 1st Jan 2015. Though towards the end my ankles were hurting, which made me think I would probably have to walk my next Parkrun.

Then we were back in the car (heating on full to warm up) and on to Danson Park for our second Parkrun.  We were there a little early, so stayed in the warm of the car and munched a few jelly babies – Helen had the last green one, I was disappointed, I wasn’t…honest… 😛 And I didn’t throw mud at her, well not intentionally!

Then we got out of the car and made our way to the start of the course, as we walked past the lake, I very helpfully told Helen that water is at it’s most dense at 4 degrees Celsius (information from my dad)  – if she wins a quiz with that answer you know where she learnt it from!!!

After a quick briefing we were off again.  There was a lot of people at this Parkrun (a lot doing the double) and so there was a bit of a bottle neck and it was slow going over the first kilometre, but my ankles felt ok which was a relief.

I kept with Helen most of the way, but there was bit towards the end when she was able to go ahead and I got slowed down by a little girl on her scooter! I was beginning to feel a little disheartened, but then I saw a robin, and there’s just something about a robin, makes me feel someone is watching over me and gave me the ability to go on and get to the end in 00:35:11 – which I was rather chuffed with after already doing one 5km!

So, it was done! 10km! I feel a real sense of accomplishment! Not bad for the first day of the year and the first day of Janathon!

After dropping Helen off, it was home for a very wonderful hot shower there’s nothing more amazing after running – no photos for that, so here’s a screenshot of my step count for the day!!!

Happy New Year to you all!
Not sure rest of Janathon will be as energetic, but we’ll see… until tomorrow! 🙂 x

All quiet on the blog front

It’s been all a bit quiet on the blogging due to the fact I have just started an Open University degree – it’s the first time I have studied with the OU, so just trying to get my head round everything and find out where everything is, know when my assignment dates are and all the rest of it. I have my first tutorial in London next Saturday, so all being well I can make that – definitely think it will be helpful.

Took the Blue One up to London Zoo where he’d been invited to do a photo shoot, in the Bug House, with Something Special magazine.  This was great fun, but rather tiring!

I’ve also visited my dietician at Guy’s hospital – I am now in the middle of the planning and prep to start a Low FODMAP diet (Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols) – really hoping this will help with my IBS symptoms, it’s tiring being in discomfort all the time and it doesn’t help with my running – if I ate better I feel I could run more!  Starting this diet is like doing a second OU course – so much to learn and figure out with regards to what I can and cannot eat for the next 4-8 weeks.  There is loads on the what you can eat section – but it’s just getting used to these being your staple diet!!! Thank God for my wonderful hubby who is so supportive and helping me with this!

Finally, ending on a happy note, went for a lovely meal with some of my fellow Janathoners – it was so nice to meet them in person! Was a highly pleasant afternoon – and I really enjoyed it before I have to become more selective with my food for the next two months which will make eating out extremely awkward!

Now to study – and it’s the Blue Ones birthday this upcoming week, can’t believe he’s going to be three! It’s cake making time!!!

🙂 xxx

Dedication is what you need…

So I made it! 31 days of exercise, 31 days of logging on running free and 31 blog posts… whew! It’s been an exhausting but also rewarding 31 days! Hip hip hooray for Janathon!!!

Today though I am feeling very full of cold, but knew I couldn’t end on a low for my very first Janathon, so went on a very gentle 2km run with Deputy Helen!

Janathon Day 31

The walk to meet with Helen involved mud, I have to say I am not keen when the ground makes squishy noises under my feet!!! Ewwww!!!

Mud… Squelchy…
Squish... Squish...
Squish… Squish…

Disappointingly the Garmin I was so excited to use, I must have done something wrong as when I finished my run it hadn’t registered anything – but fortunately I’d set my MapMyWalk app running simultaneously, phew! Otherwise I’d have been very grumpy!

Didn’t want to over do it as I am facing a 10km run tomorrow – and feeling like I currently do I am not sure how I am going to make it – topped with the fact my journey up town is going to be a complete mission as trains are stopping at London Bridge! Urgh!!! Anyway – that’s enough ranting and complaining!!!

I just want thank everyone who has taken the time to read my posts, like them and start following my blog – it’s much appreciated! I enjoyed all the blogs I had viewed too – only wish I’d time to read more of them!

Well done to everyone who has taken part – you’ve all done amazingly!!!

😊️xxx

Almost there!!!

Today didn’t go quite as planned as I got home later than intended as did my running buddy Deputy Helen so I fell back on the old faithful that is Wii Fit Plus!!!

30 minutes of Kung-fu, boxing, step aerobics, jogging (running on the spot is really hard work!), heading a football and then a balance game whereby my Mii is dressed as a penguin and I lean the island left and right to catch fish!!!

IMG_1270

Plus I have a Wii Fit age of 23!!! Woohoo!!! Check me out!!!

IMG_1268-0

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Janathon and hoping to contribute a decent run for Day 31 with Deputy Helen and I’ll get to try out the Garmin Forerunner 10 that I’ve been lent (is it sad that I’m very excited by this?)!

Strangely the exercise hasn’t tired me too badly (most of the time – haha!) but the blogging each evening has been exhausting – though despite that I have enjoyed it immensely and gaining so many new followers and likes for my posts – it’s been truly amazing and being able to read so many other great blogs has been fantastic! Wish I had the energy and time to read more of them! The whole Janathon experience has been fantastic!!!

Thank you everyone!!!

😊xxx

The end is in sight

It seems as Janathon is drawing to a close I have become a bit slack with what exercise I’m doing and today isn’t going to be any different!!! I’ve been on a couple of walks most at a relatively slow pace as I was walking with the Blue One – but there was one brisk one whilst pushing a pushchair with the Blue One in it!

Janathon Day 29

I am hoping to go for a run with Deputy Helen tomorrow, but I have a sore throat and feel generally achy, but hoping this will improve after a good nights sleep!

Goodnight all!!!

😊xxx

Wriggles and Giggles!

I had planned to go for a run this evening, but I would’ve been on my own and it was really cold and really dark and I quite quickly persuaded myself not to go! It might be me, but it seemed darker than normal tonight!

So instead I decided to involve the kids – literally, they were my gym equipment!

I had little people back lifts and little people air lifts – with increasing weights, starting with the Blue One and then finishing with the Pink One.

Air Lifts

They thought this was hilarious and thoroughly enjoyed mummy lifting them up and down! I have to say it was one of my harder workouts – far tougher then a jog, especially as my gym equipment have minds of their owns! I think I pulled something! ;-P

Lots of fun and laughter was had so that can never be a bad thing.

Probably some Wii Fit for tomorrow – but we’ll see, only three days left to go!

A sense of Déjà Vu

My main exercise today…wait for it…it’ll really surprise you…honestly it will…was 30 minutes doing Wii Fit Plus – shocked aren’t you? I can tell!!!

IMG_1191

As a mum of two young children you’d think I would be used to repeating myself! Haha!!!

Additionally I did play a game with the kids, whereby they’d sit on my lap and I’d drop them through my legs – which I can assure you is weight lifting!!! They found it hysterical with cries of “Do it again mummy” – to the point I had to tell them no more or I really would drop them!

Finally I have had the parental fun of my five year old finding any excuse to come downstairs and not go to sleep – numerous times going back up and down the stairs – which I am sure counts as at least 10 minutes of exercise!!!

😊xxx
