I have kinda of lost my running mojo, so this 14-day challenge I totally think is the kick up the bum I need to rekindle my love of running and to start considering myself as a runner!
The challenge starts, tomorrow, on Valentine’s Day – no day could be more appropriate to start reviving the love! What is more, I am going to be a Blog Ambassador for this program too – go me!!! Yay!!! Read More »
Today I was meant to be going for a 5km run with other members of the UK Fitness Bloggers Facebook group who were participants of the virtual 5km. I was meant to travel with the lovely Helen, who had organised this event with the equally delightful Mollie, getting to The Running Works for around 9.30am. Unfortunately for me and the hubby, at 1.30am our poor little Pink One was sick! This put paid to my plans!
I’ve had a bad week with my anxiety, so this wasn’t particularly great timing, I know no one likes anyone throwing up, but I am emetophobic, I am really not good with this! Kindly my hubby dealt with the poorly throwing up child and I dealt with the Blue One who had woken up strolling into our room saying his sister had a ‘Big cough’.
So pretty much a sleepless night all round (except the Blue One) who cuddled up and slept on me, literally, all night.
Come the morning, the hubby stayed with the Pink One, whilst I took the Blue One to his new footie session – which initially seemed like it wasn’t going to go so well – he was being all nervous and kept saying he wanted to sit with me and didn’t want to play, but fortunately he came around and listened to Coach Alex and thoroughly enjoyed his hour of football!
Big Thumbs up for his footie session!
From there the Blue One and I did the Morrison’s Big Shop – which is exercise in itself I assure you, lugging 6 pint bottles of milk around is heavy lifting!
We then came home, I helped the hubby put the shopping away. He then took the Blue One to a birthday party – the little social boy! I stayed with the Pink One, who even though she had a high temperature was pretty perky. She played with her Play-Doh (from this you can gage how sorry I felt for her, she had meant to be going with her uncles, granddad and cousin to the Cosmonaut Exhibition at the Science Museum, she would have so loved it, fortunately we hadn’t told her she was going. So I let her play with the Play-Doh, I can’t stand Play-Doh, it messes with my head!) whilst I got on with some OU study.
Looking beautiful even though she’s poorly and had no sleep!
When the Hubby returned with the Blue One, I asked if he minded whether I went for a walk, which he didn’t, because he is the kindest Hubby ever! So I went for a good solid 5km walk in the fresh evening air, and it felt so good. So there we have it, my penultimate day of Janathon! Not quite what I had planned, but a full and busy day none the less! 🙂 xxx
After yesterdays exertions at my beloved Boxercise, and the fact this virus still seems to be hanging around, I thought I’d take it very easy today so it was a very gentle walk!
I very excitingly had prescriptions to pick up anyway, so a walk in the wind and the drizzle it was! I did actually do slightly more than 1.53km, but I turned MapMyWalk off in the pharmacists and forgot to put it back on for my amble home – but it wasn’t exactly far!!!
There is light at the end of the Janathon tunnel – nearly there! 🙂 xxx
Today is the hubby’s birthday! He had the day off from work, so as a treat, once the small people had been dropped off at school and nursery, we walked to the local café and both had an extremely yummy cooked breakfast – it was so good!
Mmmm, Breakfast and The Birthday Boy!
Today is usually a running day for me, I really enjoy my 6km runs, but I’ve not been feeling the greatest the last day or two, feel like I’m coming down with a cold, so instead the hubby and I went for a very nice stroll together after our breakfast – it was rather windy but the rain hadn’t started yet!
Had a slight technology mishap – MapMyWalk showed that we’d walked 1.16km in 34 seconds and as the crow flies, now I know we have a brisk pace, but I assure we are not super human!!! haha!!!
Technology Fail!!!
I checked on another map and worked out we covered approximately 2.8km and did it in about 30 minutes. It was a very pleasant walk – really did miss my run though, but the way I’m feeling it wouldn’t have gone too well!
Hope I’m on the mend soon – liking all the exercise, but it’s so much harder to do when feeling all tired and achy – and probably not a good idea to do either!
What makes you feel better when you’re under the weather!? 🙂 xxx
Today started with a nice early doctor’s appointment, a lovely walk round there, it was cold but the sun was shining. An early appointment is great as you don’t end up with a delay, but it does mean that by the time you’re finished the pharmacy isn’t open yet! So I have used the pharmacy opening as my goal to go out for another walk and take the long and scenic route round there! I did indeed take the scenic route – a nice 3.74km walk in the sunshine listening to my music, with a short stop to chat with a friend, all good for clearing the head – then once I’d been to the pharmacy back home for more Open University study!
After putting a lot of effort into all my activities for Janathon Week 1, I thought it best to have a slight rest day and let my muscles have some respite and after my fab Boxercise class yesterday I was very aware of my muscles, even ones I didn’t know I had!!!
So there was a gentle walk with the hubby to collect the Blue One from nursery, then with the Blue One and hubby we walked to the Oval so I could collect my watches from the repair shop and then a meander back home, all at Blue One pace. Except for the one bit of weight lifting where I had to carry the Blue One – oh how my arm muscles protested!!! haha!!! Back home I did 5 squats with a Blue One lift and then 5 straight squats.
I also did 10 tricep dips – which we’d covered in the Boxercise class, but I forgot to mention in my post, I really could feel all the muscles I worked yesterday! Ouch! But well worth the pain!
Super cute, my Blue One wanted to try some tricep dips too! Awww!
Finally, there was the Morrisons big shop, which with two kids in tow is definitely a work out in itself! My brain has been worked today too doing some Open University maths work! But I did get to eat some chips – hopefully deserved after the weeks activities! Tired now and could do with a full body massage… 😛 xxx
Today was similar to yesterday, except the trip to the park was with the Pink One this time as the Blue One was at the child-minders, as today was an OU study day for me…
Walk to and from school in the morning for the Pink One
Two lots of laundry hung out (which did involve climbing up and down stairs! – yes, another two loads today!)
Walked to collect Pink One from school and then on to the park
Climbing Pink One
Played bat and ball with the Pink One
Stood and walked around the playground as the Pink One played
Fun and giggles with my Pink One
Walked home from the park with the Blue One
Walk home with the Pink One and the Blue One
Walking home!
17 toe touches, 17 sit and reaches, 17 sit ups/tummy crunches! (Again in the evening, will I never learn?)
Check out my step count for the day – not as great as yesterday, but considering I studied for the morning and part of the afternoon it’s pretty good – and there were times when I didn’t carry my phone on me, so there were more steps!!!
So today was quite a laid back day, but needed to do my bit for Juneathon. So this afternoon the Pink One and I walked to collect her brother from the child-minder’s and then a walk home – not saying it was quite a slow walk home, but my Garmin kept pausing!!!
It was a slow walk – the MapMyRun is the more accurate… poor Garmin!!!
The reason for the slow walk back to home is we did look at the stream, in the beautiful sunny weather with my small people
Looking cute!
Then the kids were lucky enough to see a neighbours campervan, and he was kind enough to let them sit in it – he made their day!
It’s a campervan – made their day!!!
There was the walks to and from school to do drop off and pick up and don’t forget the three toes touches!!! All in all, not a bad day!
So today I’ll keep it short and sweet – I’ve got an early start in the morning and did I mention before it’s my first timed 10km race!?! I took it easy and went on a beautiful, crisp and cold afternoon walk with my Mum, which was just lovely as it was only the two of us so we could talk! Really relaxing!!!
After a rather trying night with chicken pox boy (he didn’t go to sleep until about 3am – after a lot of wailing) I wasn’t very motivated to do much exercise, so I timed my manic walk up and down Bexleyheath High Steet.
I finished an appointment I had at 11am and had 56 minutes of time left to visit all the shops I needed – The Card Factory, Boots and H&M!
I was quite surprised with the distance that I covered!
Walking up and down Bexleyheath High Street!
I also recorded the amount of distance I covered walking around the supermarket – in this case Morrisons, doing ‘the Big Shop’ – but I unfortunately forgot to stop MapMyWalk running when I finished, and so it includes my drive home! Doh!!!
It’s not call ‘The Big Shop’ for nothing!
Needs to be less 3.22km and 10 minutes off the time – so again, I covered 1.43km just doing the weekly shop, so not at a great pace, but still further than you’d think! (Well further than I was expecting)
Who knew
Then for good measure I did some exercise on the Wii! So Wii Fit Plus !
Aerobic Exercise
Super Hula Hoop
Advance Step Aerobics (I’m not very good at that! My timing is appalling!)
Rhythmic Boxing Advanced
Balance Games
Ski Jump
Penguin Jump
Training Plus
Rhythmic Kung Fu
Feeling rather tired now, can’t imagine why!?! Haha!!!
Until Day 11 – cheerio!!!
😊xxx
